$120 for 1 person; $125 for 2 people and $130 plus tax for a family of 3 (or two little ones). Not suitable for 4 adults. Note that the murphy bed is in the smaller adjoining room for the extra guest...when only 2 guest occupy the French Suite the smaller room is a TV/Reading/Sitting Room. Two lovely modern sitting rockers are in this room with a private library and TV.
Note: the renovations are underway and will be complete for the 2010 season. All three rooms will be adjoined. The bathroom will be ensuite!
The French (formerly the Sheiling) is on the main level! Our guests can expect the same level of attention to decor and detail as the rest of the house. The French Suite is a bit nostalgic... it's namesake is after the French Mountain (as is the MacKenzie with the MacKenzie Mountain). It is also paying homage to the historical connection that Cape Breton has with the French, Alain's Quebec heritage and my recent trip to France. We hope that you like the suite when its completed!
The French Suite is a combination of two rooms and a private bath. We wanted to offer our traveling guests a room that would work for families. We thought it might eliminate setting up a cot every night. The main room is the one shown above. Unfortunately, it does not do the room justice. There is a beautiful triple dresser and a side window view of the horizon. The room boasts cathedral ceilings and a rod iron candle chandelier that inspired the design of the chalet! The adjoining room is a bit smaller but it is perfect for a third member of the family, or one or two smaller children or family couples that are traveling. We are hoping to have a double sized sofa bed in the room the middle of June but as of now, we have a single bed in the room. This room will be used by couples as a private sitting and/or TV room and by families as an extra sleeping area. The bathroom will also be off the sitting room once the renovations are complete but as of now - all rooms are still disconnected and accessible from the common area on the main level. The bathroom has a keyed lock - which will be given to you upon your arrival. This bathroom has a 1-person whirlpool tub, shower, sink and toilet.
Our rooms include passes to the Whale Interpretive Centre and evening dessert at 9pm (a favorite time for all our guests). A delicious multi-course breakfast is served every morning. Please note that the museum passes are available during their open season which runs from June 1st to October 15th. Don't forget your bathing suits! We have a large outdoor pool, two decks and six-person outdoor hot tub!
We ask that you call or check in by 6pm but this is just a double confirmation to insure that both parties get the reservation and place right for that night. This is very flexible and you can arrive whenever you like as long as I know that you are coming. Note that we have several payment options. However, because of the high credit card processing charges, we prefer cash or debit. Note that we will gladly accommodate the three major credit cards if necessary: VISA M/C AMEX
