Highland Breeze is a place where ancient stories connect with modern souls. It is a ‘Gathering Place’ for women and those seeking deeper connection with nature and spirituality. It is a place where sisterhood and community is built.
I became interested in Celtic spirituality after a trip to Scotland in the autumn of 2024. I felt called by a mystery I didn’t recognize at the time, to travel somewhere I’d never been and never expected to visit. I journeyed there because I was inspired by other women and the work they were doing to bring healing to a land torn by colonialism, war, and patriarchy. I was drawn to a people who lived courageously in spite of conquerors, theirs roots so deeply embedded in the earth that their hearts never stopped yearning for home. I hoped to connect with the land and feel the energy it held, as well as the hearts of my ancestors.
What I discovered were the people of today who were friendly, welcoming, kind and easy to talk to. I was travelling alone and everywhere I turned I was met by faces who sat down beside me in a pub to talk about American values, international women who offered me a ride in a cab when mine never showed up, a car salesman who told me all about the Highlands, depot cashiers who refunded my tickets when I ignorantly picked the expensive train line, and young college students who explained all the options that were possible if the train we were counting on never arrived. They all put their proverbial arms around my shoulders and made me feel connected, cared for, like I was a friend – not a foreigner.
I visited Culloden battlefield outside of Inverness and had a deeply moving experience. Not only did I recognize that the healing work of the women I was coming to meet had accomplished much, but I met myself on that battlefield. I met my courage, my fierce independence that had been buried under all the roles of motherhood I had placed upon myself, and my need and excitement for adventure
When I arrived at the spiritual retreat deep in the Highlands, I was welcomed by women from every walk of life and from many corners of the world. Though we were complete strangers, they greeted me with open arms—laughing, sharing stories, and drawing me into their circle without hesitation. Since then, they have become soul-sisters and cherished companions on this journey, a community I rely on for strength and support.
During those days I explored diverse spiritual practices and stood within an ancient stone circle, where I felt the presence of ancient wisdom. Over that weekend I discovered the vast potential for healing and how profoundly safe, embracing, and trustworthy the Divine is. My perception of myself shifted irrevocably; I knew I could never return to the life I had been living.
Over the following months, a quiet call grew stronger—a desire to share the magic and healing I had experienced. From that call, Highland Breeze was born.
My vision for Highland Breeze and the Celtic Women’s Circles is to gather women together in circle to experience the synchronicity of our own hearts with goddess consciousness, with ancestors, and with our forgotten selves—our bodies. Through ceremony and communion with the natural elements, we will reconnect with the Divine Feminine as she reveals herself in our mind, hearts, and bodies through maidenhood, motherhood, and crone.
I, too, walk this path—deepening my own wisdom and heart through intentional relationship with Source: Grandmother Moon, Mother Earth, and my spirit guides who walk beside me.
